Get a kick out of the Android app

Apr 15, 2011

The official website for European football (that’s soccer for rabid NFL fans) comes to your Android in the form of an app. It’s packed with soccer goodness, from news to photos and video. If you follow European leagues, don’t hesitate to download it.

The UEFA app actually covers five different leagues — Championship, Europa, Women’s Championship, Women’s Under-19 and Under-17. You’ll also find a section on the current UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifiers. Every section offers match scores, news, photos, team details, a calendar of events and more.

The app user experience flows smoothly and feels extremely fast. You can quick find specific information or you can browse freely until you find something that interests you. Even video playback runs smoothly. My only complaint was that some of the sound levels on the videos were lower than others, forcing me to increase the volume in order to hear it.

To track your top teams, use the “Favorites” button at the bottom of the main menu. Pick up to 10 teams to follow, and the app will alert you with their latest match schedules, scores and news.

Overall, this app means you’ll never be without Euro soccer news. Too bad the app doesn’t track the U.S. teams.
