Portland is a city I visited on my 6 month road trip. I had been there once before, 15 years prior. It is a great city and these apps helped me enjoy it even more.
Microbrews are among the best thing about Portland and this app will provide you Google Maps markers for the Portland area breweries. It has a large selection and the markers have info about the brewery. Would be nice if users could submit new entries.
OK, this app isn’t free it’s US0.99 but it’s so worth it. It’s like a mixture of an RPG and a guidebook. You can get to know the city of Portland by completing quests, finding tokens, leveling up, etc. There is over 70 hours of play time. Awesome idea, great execution!
This is a free app is the official app for Dante’s – a live-music venue/club/bars/restaurants/etc. This app gives access to the YouTube channel and the live webcast from Dante’s. Nice if you aren’t in Portland and want to feel like you are there or if you want to see if da joint is hoppin’ before you head out.
Portland Business Journal
This app has the Portland Business Journal – business news. You can search by date and industry – and there is extra content for existing subscribers.
PDX Transit Finder
This free app is a stop-finder for the Trimet transit system in Portland. It finds the stops and puts them on Google Maps. Bare bones, but it works.
