Instagram update (Free)

What’s it about? Photo-sharing social network Instagram encourages users to snap photos with their Android devices and to add vintage effects with a wide array of filters.

What’s cool? Instagram is a pretty simple tool for taking and sharing photos, and yet its popularity has driven it to become one of the biggest things in mobile apps. Users snap a shot with their devices, apply a filter if they so designer to change the way their photos work, and share them through Instagram’s network, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. There are quite a few filters on-hand for users to try, and the social networking half of the app allows you to view photos from users all over the world, as well as to follow friends and “like” or leave comments on their images. Instagram has recently been updated to support shooting and sharing video on all Android devices, as well.

Who’s it for? Fans of Android photography and sharing photos and videos will find a lot to like about Instagram.

Gentlemen! ($3.03)

What’s it about? Take on a friend in a gravity bending battle arena in Gentlemen!, in which players each take one end of a tablet screen and play head-to-head.

What’s cool? A name like Gentlemen! suggests multiplayer gamepay that’s kind, but the reality is any but. In Gentlemen!, two players fight in side-scrolling platforming level, using all manner of implements of death to do one another in. The goal is to chase and defeat your opponent, much like in old arcade titles such as Mario Bros. (not to be confused with Super Mario Bros.), and Gentlemen! throws players a further curveball by requiring them each to use one side of a tablet screen to control their characters. The game also features three different modes to give players some variety in their battles.
