New Android apps worth downloading: Dolphin Browser and Weight Watchers Mobile updates, Rise of the Blobs

Start your week by downloading the recently updated and well-loved Dolphin Browser, which which now has the ability to connect to your desktop web browser and to social networks for sharing. We’ve also got an update to Weight Watchers Mobile, which helps users track their eating habits while they’re out in the world, and matching puzzler Rise of the Blobs to keep you busy and entertained.

Dolphin Browser update (Free)

What’s it about? One of the more popular browsers in the Google Play store, Dolphin brings users private browsing, tabs and more.

What’s cool? Dolphin is a pretty capable browser, allowing you to browse the web as if you are doing so on PC or Mac. Dolphin already supported tabbed browsing, multiple accounts and private browsing, and its latest update adds the ability to connect to your desktop version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari. You can also instantly tweet and share things you view through Dolphin across a number of social networks.

Who’s it for? If you use your mobile device for web browsing, Dolphin’s a worthy browser with which to do it.

What’s it like? You might also like the mobile versions of Google’s Chrome browser and Firefox.

Weight Watchers Mobile update (Free)

What’s it about? The official Weight Watchers app tunes users into the program when they’re out in the world, tracking meals and using other resources to help with weight loss.

What’s cool? If you’re working on the Weight Watchers program, this is the sort of app support system you want. The app lets you track food and calorie intake, lets you search for recipes, foods, and restaurants.This enables you o see what you’re recommended to eat and what you should avoid, and makes weight loss goals and progress viewable. It also lets you keep up to date on health and fitness information, and can find you a nearby Weight Watchers meeting wherever you are. A recent new update should improve the app’s performance, with tons of bugs squashed by developers.

Who’s it for? This one is specifically for Weight Watchers members.

What’s it like? Try PointsPlus Calculator for more Weight Watchers help, and Calorie Counter – MyFitnessPal for additional fitness assistance outside the Weight Watchers program.

Rise of the Blobs (Free)

What’s it about? A puzzle game in the match-3 sort of category, Rise of the Blobs is about matching colors to stop waves of approaching enemies from reaching the top of your column.

What’s cool? Like other matching puzzle games, Rise of the Blobs presents players with stacks of squares that each have a different color. The idea is to drop colored fruits of your own to clear the squares of the matching color, with the hopes of getting big combos by clearing lots of blocks at once. The game’s 3-D nature adds another wrinkle, as you’ll need to rotate around your column to clear enemies from all sides. Rise of the Blobs includes several game modes and allows you to connect to Facebook to challenge your friends.

Who’s it for? Puzzle game fans, you’ll likely find Rise of the Blobs both simple to play and addictive.

What’s it like? Blob Blast is another blob-themed matching puzzler, and it’s worth trying developer Robot Invader’s other title, Wind-up Knight.
