Texas has something about it that’s different from any other state. Proud, big, and fun – visiting Texas is something I try to do at least once a year to put perspective on my Californian lifestyle! Here are some apps I’ve used in and around Dallas, TX.
FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth
This is the free app for Fox 4 KDFW in Dallas. It’s an easy to use UI with local news and also national news – in addition to weather and radar, traffic, etc. Doesn’t have much news, but great for just getting the headlines.
Dallas DART: AnyStop
This app has transit schedules for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit. It only has scheduled times – you can’t use it to plan a route. Also I wouldn’t rely on it 100% because sometimes it doesn’t reflect schedule changes.
This free app from the Dallas Police Department lets you submit tips/complaints anonymously over your phone. Not for use in an emergency though.
This is a guidebook for Dallas that costs $1.99. It has city, subway, and tourist maps that work offline. It also has hotel and restaurant info as well as a phone directory. More useful for people who are not American.
If you miss Dallas you can always have it with you on your phone. This free app has hundreds of professionally-taken photos of Dallas that you can view, set as wallpaper, or share.
