Android App Tablet Review: Newsr

Oct 10, 2011

Newsr offers an easy way to access and read your Google Reader RSS feeds on your Android tablet device.

While the app is fairly plain, it does work quite well. It’s set up in a similar way to other popular news apps with which you might already be familiar. Headlines appear on the left, and tapping on any of these loads the full article on the right hand side of the screen.

Newsr also has some handy customization options, allowing users to sort articles by either “label” or “feeds” and by “newest to oldest” or vice versa.

What’s nice, though, is because the app syncs up directly with your Google Reader account, you can track which articles you’ve read and which ones you haven’t. Newsr also allows you to switch between various accounts and share favorite articles through Facebook, StumbleUpon and others.
